Meet at 1201 N Pacific St in Oceanside for a 2.5-hour lesson with San Diego Surf. You’ll get a board, wetsuit, leash, safety briefing, and step-by-step coaching on paddling, balance, and three ways to stand. Instructor Doug has helped beginners get upright quickly. Start times can shift with ocean conditions.

Meet your instructor at Tyson Street near Oceanside Pier for a private, one-hour surf lesson. You’ll get a board, wetsuit, and focused coaching on the basics, from ocean awareness to standing on the board. Pickup is offered, and the beach meeting point is near public transportation.

Meet Cal Coast Adventures in Solana Beach for a private North San Diego surf lesson lasting about 90 minutes. You’ll learn paddling, lineup position, wave selection, and the pop-up with an instructor such as Brennan, Justin, Elias, or Ladd. Board, leash, and wetsuit are included, and swimming ability is required.

Meet Karch at Leucadia State Beach, also called Beacon’s, for a private 90-minute surf lesson. You’ll review technique, form, and safety on shore, then paddle out together while Karch helps you catch waves. The lesson suits first-timers, families, and mixed-age groups, with timing adjusted when tides matter.
“Great time learning to surf. We had 6 family members from 47 to 11, and Karch went out of his way to help everyone, spending extra time with the youngest kids. Karch reached out and suggested adjusting our timing based on the tide and best time for a beginner lesson. We took him up on it and it went very well! All in all great experience!”
